Fun things going on around the Panhandle this week:
ART AFTER DARK
If you haven't been to one of these yet... GO tomorrow night! The Amarillo Museum of Art puts on a great series of fun, casual evening events to showcase their amazing exhibits throughout the year. The theme of tomorrow night's Art After Dark is Mad About Modern (think Mad Men), and it's going to be a blast from the past! The exhibit is a stunning, yet eclectic collection of photography, the music is by Turbine Toolshed, and the food by Roosters & Roaster's. There will be activities galore, a photo booth and an open bar. Friday, February 21st 7-10pm at AMoA. $20 per person, members free, pay at the door. Dapper dress encouraged.
We made a mistake in last week's newsletter... The Women's Total Health Retreat that is being hosted by Suzi McKee of Live Well Fit is actually taking place THIS weekend (not last weekend) which means you can still attend! Enjoy lectures by local wellness experts, a plethora of fitness classes, massages, facials and more. Everything begins at 6pm on Friday, February 21st. Various events throughout the evening and even more on Saturday, February 22nd from 8am through lunch. Come & go as you please, although we know you won't want to miss a minute of this great retreat. $35 per woman. Click here for more details.
CLIMB THE TOWER
Another great way to enjoy an active Saturday morning: climb the Chase Tower! The Brandy Lee Leard Memorial Scholarship Fund is the benefactor of one of our favorite annual Amarillo races. The Chase Tower Run consists of running up and down the Amarillo National Bank parking garage, then running up the Chase Tower parking garage to the stairwell, and finally taking the stairs up the rest of the way to the 31st floor. It definitely hurts, but it's fast and furious, and you'll feel like you've really accomplished something when it's over, especially because you get to enjoy a tasty brunch at the Amarillo Club as part of your entry fee. Click here for more details. Register online today or in person at Get Fit tomorrow from 4-6pm.
Not only is the Amarillo Symphony presenting another great concert this weekend, they are also adding something new and quite avant garde after the regular show on Saturday night. Symphony Underground will take place Saturday, February 22nd from 10pm to Midnight in the underground parking garage at 4th & Polk St. downtown and will feature an encore performance by PROJECT Trio. $20 in advance, $25 at the door, or $30 for the regular symphony performance + the underground event. Admission includes food and drink. Click here for details and reservations for the Reimaginings concert Friday and Saturday evenings, plus the Lunch & Learn and Underground events.
BEER IS DEAR
Crush Wine Bar & Deli will be hosting another of their fabulous beer dinners next Wednesday, February 26th. We can't wait for this feast featuring suds from Odell and Uinta breweries, each paired with a delicious dish. A six-course tasting menu for $55 per person. Call 806-418-2011 for reservations. Everything will kick off at 6:30pm. Click here for the menu - yum.
